MODERN INKLINGS

An “inkling” is a feeling that something is true or likely to happen, although one is not certain. Example: “She saw the look on Nick’s face, but had no inkling of what it meant.”

The Inklings were a group of literary giants who met together at a local English Pub to share lively readings and debates; the leading members, such as C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien, wrote many words about the meaning of words.

Modern Inklings is a modernization of that same passion and style of study, debate, readings of the written word, or anything that celebrates the English language, beautifully written, spoken, shared, or artistically expressed in some way.

The focus of this website is dedication to the love good, well-written (mostly English) literature and a positive, affirmative style criticism that sparks discussion or interesting thought to ponder. The hope is that others might enjoy the literary essays that are a unique look at literary classics as well as a few more modern offerings. Check back often for new content and updates.

“That’s why literature is so fascinating. It’s always up for interpretation, and could be a hundred different things to a hundred different people. It’s never the same thing twice.”
